HND OVERVIEW
HND: Higher National Diploma.
The Higher National Diploma is a professional higher education qualification designed to combine academic learning with practical training for employment and career readiness.
Duration: Most HND programs run for 2 years. Medical and Biomedical Sciences programs run for 3 years because of intensive laboratory training and supervised clinical practice.
Internationally rooted
The HND originated from the United Kingdom and has been adopted across Commonwealth education systems.
Nationally recognized
Introduced in Cameroon in 2002 by Ministerial Order No. 02/0069/MINESUP/DDES.
National examination
The HND certificate is awarded through a national examination organized by the Ministry of Higher Education.
CURRICULUM STRUCTURE

Professional Courses

To complete your HND admission application, applicants are expected to attach clear photocopies of the required documents listed below.
Start ApplicationPhotocopy of GCE Advanced Level passed in at least two subjects, or BACC all series.
Year One transcripts from a recognized institution, for Year Two applicants only.
Photocopy of birth certificate.
Photocopy of Ordinary Level or CAP.
Photocopy of national identity card, or passport for foreign applicants.
Receipt of payment of registration fee.

Most HND programs run for two years. Medical and Biomedical Sciences programs generally run for three years because of intensive laboratory training and supervised clinical practice.
Applicants are generally expected to have GCE Advanced Level passed in at least two subjects, Baccalaureate, or an equivalent qualification depending on the chosen program.
Yes, Year Two entry may be possible for eligible applicants who provide Year One transcripts from a recognized higher education institution.
Yes. HND students undertake supervised industrial work experience to connect classroom learning with real professional practice.
Yes. Foreign applicants may apply and are expected to provide the required academic documents and a valid passport or identification document.
